Lasko Zlatorog
There are really only two major beer brands in Slovenia, Lasko and Union, but they are apparently owned by the same company! There is however now a myriad of micro-breweries, but I never encountered their beers.
This is the only Slovenian beer I have tasted, but I have had it multiple times and in all forms - on tap, bottle and can.
This appears (from their website www.lasko.eu/en) to be their flagship beer although they seem to make a small range including, for whatever reason, a couple of 0% beers!
It’s a Lager, 4.9% alcohol content which is to my taste.
I first had it, on tap, in Lake Bled and Ljubijana, Slovenia in 2014 and also in bottles at the same time. In 2018 I found it on tap in Trieste (Italy) and it reminded me that it a very good beer. For some reason I have had great difficulty in finding it in bottleshops or online in France but did manage to get my hands on some in Melbourne earlier this year.
Despite the description on their website I found it very slightly sweet but still very pleasant and worth looking out for. Nice honey colour, good head, very refreshing.
